Welcome to Pearl Oncology Specialist Hospital, where your well-being is our priority. Your oncologist recently prescribed chemotherapy, and we understand that there is much to learn about this procedure.
A common question we often get is What is Chemotherapy?
Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment that uses powerful anti-cancer (cytotoxic) drugs to destroy cancer cells or stop them from growing and dividing. Cancer cells grow very fast. Chemotherapy works by targeting fast-growing cells. It damages their DNA or blocks the tools they need to multiply, making it hard for them to keep growing.
If you are scheduled to receive chemotherapy, please note must sign a consent form agreeing to the treatment, but first you must be informed. You will also receive a prescription for the chemotherapy drug.
