I am a postgraduate researcher at the Leeds Institute of Health Sciences. Prior to starting my PhD my academic and research experience has spanned a career in Public Health where I have been involved in teaching and research, health professional education, curriculum and programme development, at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
My PhD is specifically exploring breast cancer survivorship in Nigeria to understand the experiences of women living with and beyond breast cancer to inform the development of interventions to improve breast cancer survivorship in Nigeria and Africa.
As part of my PhD, I have published a focus group discussion on the narrative accounts of breast cancer survivors from Lagos, Nigeria, describing their experiences from diagnosis to the present and outlining the culture and beliefs pertaining to living with cancer.
I have also completed a systematic review to outline reported symptoms, concerns, and experiences of women living with and beyond breast cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa which has been submitted for publication.
Other studies will include in-depth and key informant interviews with patients and health workers in different parts of Nigeria.
As a PhD researcher, I have been involved in other roles such as
